Having pulled together a perfectly functioning dividend tracker sheet for the year 2017, I can finally sleep again. Really I have had a few nights of bad sleep just because my brain was fried with Excel and Google Spreadsheets formulas. Lucky for me, I have some real good examples from colleague-bloggers/investors.
Where it is not worth it to reinvent the wheel when good stuff already exists the basic layout I could borrow from the examples. My trading package spits out a few lines of excel when I ask for an export, but this firstly requires processing in order to be able to work in accounting formulas. E.g. the amounts of shares are in the same cells as the share names etc.
Think challenges, but don’t forget real problems.
Let Excel do the stripping of my data. In the meantime I have worked towards a sheet that calculates:
- My year overview;
- A monthly overview for 2x variables: [ year] and [month] for in case I want to look back on something;
- A sheet that provides my half monthly forecast;
- A database that keeps track of all of my earnings;
- A full historic overview of earnings since I started using this particular investment package.
On top of all of this:
